We have an amazing experience with Modern Home Services. Our Kitchenaid refrigerator stopped working just after a year of purchasing. Modern Home Services gave us some suggestions over the phone to try before coming out. Unfortunately, they still had to come out to take a look at the refrigerator. When they came out they advised me to look at the owners manual which stated there was a two year warranty on the condenser (despite Kitchenaid previously telling it was not under warranty). We appreciate Modern Home Services honesty, quick scheduling, and knowledge!! Would definitely recommend and will be using in the future for any appliance service needs.

Worst company i have ever dealt with when it comes to appliance parts. Sold us the wrong part and now refuses to give us our money back!!!!! So now we are out $140 dollars do to there negligence...... This is not the way to do business and I would never recommend anybody to support there business

We used these people before in the past but currently November 2024 they don’t answer the phone. They don’t return phone calls and when I explain to the person that they don’t return phone calls the technician himself got on the phone and started giving me a bunch of shit so this is very poor Customer service and a. Poor service company I don’t have any recommendations. I’m looking for Someone new myself but if you really want somebody who’s going to treat you nice and do the good work. Don’t call them.

I'm sad to leave this review because I don't like leaving bad reviews for places. I know businesses often try hard and sometimes things don't work as expected.

That said, I've used Modern Home Services multiple times over the years, but my last experience was upsetting and frustrating to the point I feel the need to write this.

I have an older stackable unit that I debated repairing versus just replacing. I called and spoke with the nice guy who often answers the phone there. I thought he was the owner...he is not. I told him my situation and my debate about replacing versus repairing. He told me the part cost and estimated that the repair would total up around $200. After thinking about it, I could accept $200 versus a full replacement so I scheduled the repair.

The guy who came out to do the repair was the actual owner (I didn't know that until later). He replaced the shorted overheating sensor and it was back working. Great! When he first put it back together it was a little squeaky, so he adjusted something and it sounded like it was fine. He writes up the bill and to my shock it was $350!! Way more than I ever would have agreed to in advance, hence why I tried to determine that.

I frustratingly paid the bill and then proceeded to call the guy I spoke with originally, asking why it was so much more when the repair was EXACTLY what he thought it would be (shorted overheating element). He didn't have an acceptable answer, other than the owner (guy who came out) charged what he charged.

Now, after using it for the first time since it was repaired, I'm noticing a squeak and some metal-on-metal sound. It had NONE of that before the repair. I called back and they are telling me it's likely a bearing and it will be another $200 to fix it. No freaking way, and it didn't have this issue until you took it apart. It didn't just magically show up instantly after the repair, I think he didn't have it right when he put it back together and the weight of the clothes brought back the noises that were there when he first put it back together. No offer was made to come take a look, just to make sure the repair was done correctly.

Based on this experience, I will never use them again and cannot recommend that anyone else do so. Sad to say.

Great place for appliance parts. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. They always have the hard to find pieces to fix our dishwashers, dryer etc...

Contacted Modern Home Services on 12/26/18 at approximately 5:30 PM, the answering service had a technician contact me within 10 minutes. The technician from the onset was polite and informative. An appointment was scheduled for the following day. 30 minutes prior to the appointment today, the serviceman Stan called to confirm the appointment and state that he was en route. Stan arrived, assessed my furnace and determined he was able to complete the repair. Stan was extremely communicative during the repair. Lastly, the repair worked and my heat has now returned. Stan's work was professional, efficient, and cleanly!

The two staff members behind the counter were considerably rude. I didn't yet leave the property with my purchase and realized the part was incorrect. They chose to enforce their no return policy on electronic parts. First they said it was a 20% restocking fee and then indicated that the policy is no return on electric items. Totally understandable, but I didn't even make it to my car before I realized my error! Not the way to ensure repeat customers. Very disappointing.

Although Modern Home Service's retail space may not feel all too "modern", the customer service is fantastic and that is what truly helps get our projects done at the end of the day!

They take the time to ensure that they understand the problem your appliance is having, and if it's DIY-able they can walk you through step-by-step as to how to fix the various things that could cause that issue. Great customer service, I hope that Modern Home Services will be here for years to come!
