All of the staff is so super helpful, especially Mary Beth. She has worked with me for months on selecting and ordering plumbing items and other materials for our total house restoration after we incurred extensive flood damage to our home. I’ve been living in the Huntsville/Athens area for 20+ years and had never been to MEWS before. I’ve heard wonderful things about it, and decided to visit their store yesterday. I am working on our master closet, changing the look a bit. I was looking for new lighting fixtures but had absolutely NO idea where to begin. I was redirected 2-3 times to some elusive sales person who deals with lighting before finally speaking to the woman. I believe her name is Barbara, but I am not 100% certain. “Barbara” was with a customer when I first entered, so I browsed for several minutes. The selection is vast and pricing is good. Once “Barbara” was free, one of the sales people let her know that she had a customer. That’s where the entire visit to the store went downhill. When told she had a customer, Barbara VISIBLY rolled her eyes as if she didn’t have time to be bothered by yet another customer. As a matter of fact, I commented, “or not…I can come back another day,” to which the lady who’d introduced me to “Barbara” said “no, no…she can help you,” as though even SHE realized that “Barbara” was beyond rude!
She and another lady were busy looking at what appeared to be inventory and “Barbara” barely even looked in my direction when she asked very brusquely “what do you need?” I was taken aback, but continued. I tried to explain to her my end goal, but admitted that I hadn’t a clue as to where to begin. I said “I need guidance.” I suppose that’s not her specialty, because she never even bothered to stop - even for a second - to make me feel like a potential customer with a need and desire to buy. She made me feel like a nuisance, asking me what I needed guidance on. Well, I wasn’t quite sure. As explained, I’d started a project, had maybe bitten off more than I could chew, and needed help from an “expert.”
She pointed me in the direction of the “Baby room,” indicating that what I’m looking for might be in there (that’s where there flush mounted lighting is showcased); she didn’t offer to join me or show me a thing. Again, she barely even made eye contact with me.
Prior to being sent to the “Baby room,” I knew I’d not be making a purchase at MEWS - which is such a shame because I actually saw several items that appealed to me. I realize that everyone is stretched thin these days. I am a teacher, so I totally understand being stretched thin. That, however, is absolutely no excuse for poor customer service - to the point where a customer feels bad for even “bothering” the employee. I will not be returning to MEWS.

MEWS is absolutely fantastic - the selection and prices are great. Robyn was the most helpful and insightful person I worked with throughout the entire home building process. She went out of her way to make sure everything was installed correctly and promptly fixed any issues we had.

Customer service is outstanding. Needed some parts for the plumber to finish on a new construction home that is about an hour away and Robyn had them there quickly which allowed the plumber to finish and not have to come back another day. From the very beginning Robyn has helped my wife pick out all of our fixtures and it has been one of the easiest parts of building our house.

One of the shops I always look forward to visiting is this one. The displays are beautiful and full of creativity! So after finding the perfect picture frames I was so disappointed in the reception I received at the counter. Besides being ignored, one of the staff was on a tirade about the lunch hours. She even commented about how they never have nice customers while she still ignored me! Gee! That made me feel good!😏

Shopped here for bathroom sinks on a remodel job. The people were very accommodating at first. We found the sinks we wanted. The sales person even called the company to make the sinks were in stock. They were to be delivered in two weeks. We order and and paid for them. A month later they had not come in. I called and they had no idea about my order. They acted like I was a burden to deal with. It took them three days to call me back just to tell me they could not get the sinks at all. They did not attempt to find something to replace want I had ordered. They refunded my money and turned away. Very disappointing experience. If you are doing a remodel and have a deadline do not use this place. They have very little product in stock and most things have to be ordered.

My husband went to the back to buy a blower unit for the inside part of our A/C. When he got there he found out that they don't sell them as a unit like they used to. You have to buy just the motor, so that's what he bought. When he gets it home, he finds out that it didn't have mount brackets so I went up there to get one that does. I was then told that none of the motors come with bracket mounts. I made the comment that he should have told my husband that so he could have gotten it while he was there. It's hot and this is our A/C unit we're trying to fix in the middle of a hot day. The gentleman said it wasn't his job to know what a person knew or not. I told him that he knew more than my husband on what parts come with what, that's when a woman came around counter and said that she was the owner and that I didn't need to talk to her employee that way. I wasn't being rude or belligerent. I just didn't think it would have been that hard to ask if the customer knew it didn't come with bracket mounts, especially if he brought an older model in. This will be the last time my family and I will be back to that store and before today, I would have recommended that store to anyone. Now I'll tell people to stay away. It's nothing like it used to be.
