Absolutely deplorable place to try and seek any sort of reason as a man. I brought monumental proof that the mother of my children is not on the level and they still have her an opportunity to try and fix her horrible life decisions. The referee spoke to me like I was the one with an extensive criminal record and my child support rep was also very rude and unhelpful. I had a stop payment issued by said referee and they still took money out of my check. If you don't pay through they have no issues setting up a warrant for your arrest. I will be sending an email every single week they take money from me until this is resolved.

You are all public servants and need to behave as such. Not only do I pay my child support when I'm supposed to but my taxes also pay your salary and you'd do well not to forget that.

Walked into friend of the court with a heavy heart. The lady that greeted me was polite, enthusiastic and eager to help. Complemented me on having 95% of the paper work completed. Made the process extremely easy. She had me in and out in 5 minutes! Wonderful staff! I wish I got the lady’s name that helped me, she had long blonde hair. And a big beautiful smile. Extremely satisfied! Thank you for bringing light to my day!

Whew, the bias mediator I had today tried to make me out to be a bad mom, because of the lies my child’s father spewed to his lawyer. I didn’t even know we had court today 9/17 until I called up to the friends of the court. Instead of postponing she let me go in blind sided. The mediator was very rude. She got upset because as a single mom I had to pick my child up from the school. Now that I know I have to have a lawyer as well as all my evidence. Because a lot of the women mediator are bias.

I’ve always had the impression that each individual me and my son’s father had been in front of, or dealt with were always fair, honest and respectful to both of us. (Despite my ex’s insistence on being a jerk at times but it was always seen right through and dealt with accordingly!)
I think people go into “Friend Of the Court” with a horrible attitude and terrible ideas about what others went through (completely different situations) as well as wanting to only hurt their child’s other parent.
The best advice I could give anyone new or experienced going into this situation (no matter how many times it’s been) keep an open mind, and NEVER FORGET THAT THE PERSON YOU “THINK” you’re fighting against is in fact someone you once loved and probably still do or always will. Try your best to put your anger, or hurt feelings aside during these proceedings and ONLY MAKE IT ABOUT WHAT’S ACTUALLY BEST FOR YOUR CHILD OR CHILDREN.
Don’t they at least deserve that much?

The employees who work in this department are all amazing in my eyes and I haven’t always seen eye to eye with each of them. But they’ve always done their job when it was necessary. So THANK YOU ALL AT THE MACOMB COUNTY FRIEND OF THE COURT. Keep up the great work.

Tara (whose job title escapes me) was very rude, condescending, assumptive, and borderline racist when I spoke to her about a bench warrant that was placed for my arrest after they sent a letter to my old address although they've been sending all mailings to my current home for the past 3 years. She accused me of not wanting to pay, of being evasive, and went as far as to insult my intelligence by insinuating I am voluntarily not working since I have no medical reason not to be (though this is an assumption because for 4 months I was medically unable to work due to a work related injury and even had a worker's compensation case) I will be filing as many complaints as I can against their decorum, and infrastructure concerning parenting time and the failure of them to hold a mother accountable.

My experience with the Macomb County Friend of the Court (FOC) has been extremely disappointing and, more importantly, has failed to protect the safety and well-being of my daughter.

My daughter's father, who has a troubling history of violent arrests—including a criminal sexual conduct (CSC) charge—was able to regain parenting time rights by falsely claiming he served me with the necessary hearing papers. Despite filing an objection to this decision, which is documented in the public record, I never received the hearing promised to address my concerns. Since May, I've been forced to send my daughter into an environment where she has been inappropriately touched and has had to remain in proximity to the individual responsible for the incident.
For prospective my daughter is in elementary school, the other individual is in high school. This is clear S.A.

Despite these serious risks, the FOC has repeatedly adjourned the trial, granting my daughter's father continued access without regard for the impact on her well-being. The delays have only prolonged her exposure to this harmful situation, with no justice in sight. It is deeply concerning that a system tasked with the protection of children has allowed such a pattern to continue.

As a mother, I am devastated by the lack of support, accountability, and responsiveness from Macomb County's Friend of the Court. I question how many other parents and children have been placed in similar situations, forced to endure unnecessary harm due to systemic oversight and delays. It is my hope that the FOC will take meaningful action to ensure that the safety of children truly comes first, and that parents like myself are given the respect and due process we deserve.

I had filed for sole custody and restricted parenting time 8 months BEFORE she was inappropriately touched. I was denied by the same referee we have now. I couldn't protect my daughter because of this legal system. I'm sad, mad and scared for my daughter every time I'm forced to send her that hour away.

Way2Go card services used by this department is absolute garbage! They have little to no customer service. Every representatives name is Ruben and they do not know how to transfer a call to the correct department! GET AN AMERICAN SERVICE TO HELP AMERICANS!!!!!!!

I have physical and we share joint/ he gets him every other weekend. Well on April 27, my 10 year old text me for the first time to come and get him. He went on to say that his dad was fighting his girlfriend and that he got in a car accident while dad was drunk. I file a motion for full custody and sent over supportive documents/ the referee Catherine, stated during the zoom to have my 10 year old talk to dad(which he doesn’t talk to him daily), and requested we meet in a public place so that dad could see soon with me present. That went horrible he started telling my son that he was being brainwashed and that how come I am trying to dictate his visit. Well he stayed 10 minutes yelling and making everyone feel uncomfortable and demanded my son to give him that game card back which he purchased.
Ugh, cps is also involved and the referee totally ignored the pause on visitation for safety. I am extremely frustrated with how she handled this. What do I do I don’t want him to be there with him alone/ he is terrified and believes dad will blame him.. He said Mom can you win, I don’t want to go back to his house.. how can a kid make up which gender he wants to be identified with but can’t say who he feels the safest with?
